BRAVE-Movie Review

Posted on July 17, 2012

You better be watching out “vor” this movie! You’re reading the Buzz About Movies’ review on Brave.

So, we were the only people in the world who liked Cars 2 here at The Buzz About Movies, so Pixar’s redemption was Brave. While we didn’t get to see Brave immediately, we still wanted to see it, and saw it the week after The Amazing Spider-Man debuted instead of seeing Ice Age: Continental Drift. We REALLY liked it! The film has more emotional depth than Cars 2, but keeps the action, and I liked that. While there is a funny bear subplot, I still thought one thing led to another and it was a really good movie! The mom was funny as a bear, and there was some humor. I thought Merida was a strong female lead, and that Kelly MacDonald (who voiced her) did a real nice job with the Scottish accent. The little brothers were hilarious, especially when they were bears! The King was also funny.

Here’s my reviews on the cast:

KELLY MACDONALD plays Merida, and has an awesome Scottish accent in the film. Her character is a really strong character, and while she is a bit selfish at the beginning of the movie, you understood her point of view.

BILLY CONNOLLY plays Fergus, Merida’s dad, and is also really funny in the film. Yet he could’ve been in the film more.

EMMA THOMPSON plays Queen Elinor, the most proper queen you’ve ever met, opposite of Merida, some one interested in bows and fighting. Thompson was good as Elinor, and was as good as Kelly MacDonald.

JULIE WALTERS plays the Witch, and is my favorite character, because of her trickery, but sadly she isn’t in the film more than just two short scenes.

Here is my overall rating:

STORY: 8/10

ACTING: 8/10

IMPACT: 9/10

PACING: 10/10

MOOD: 9/10

RE-WATCH: 8/10

Overall, we give this film a: 9/10 (Triple Awesome). Thanks for reading The Buzz About Movies.
