The Hunger Games

Kids killing kids! What a great movie topic…ish….

So, all of the fans of Suzanne Collins’s book have been anxiously awaiting this movie, debuting in March. The story follows older sister Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) taking care of her younger sister Primrose Everdeen (Willow Shields) and for higher classes entertainment, they have a competition every year where kids kill kids and one comes out alive. Peeta Mallark (John Hutcherson) is drafted to go to the “killing festival” titled the Hunger Games. Primrose is also picked but Katniss volunteers to go for her.

The film has done a horrible job advertising. Originally, they weren’t going to put an add up for the Super Bowl thinking “Women like our series, not men and women don’t like football, so why blast 3 million bucks for nothing?” Well, male fans of the Hunger Games got offended by that statement saying, “Hey! We love the Hunger Games too!” and women got offended by that statement saying “We watch football!” So, The Hunger Games got a spot on the Pre-Game Show.

Then, the film released adds like pretend shaving cream adds with characters on it. I don’t know what Lionsgate thinks of the Hunger Games, but they might think of it as a commercial opportunity and a chance to make some money.

IS THE HUNGER GAMES JUST A MOVIE SLOPPILY MADE FOR MONEY?

I certainly hope not.
